The Festival Inspire comes back in Moncton from July 9th to July 14th for its fourth edition. This international, free, street arts festival will transform the city landscape with murals, interactive installations and projection mapping created by artists from all around the world : Sète, Santa Fe or Glasgow. All the week long, Moncton will live by the rythm of the music and circus street performances.
The aim is simple : to freshen up the walls (and give them a second life) with original and colourfull murals. Thanks to a deep coloboration between local businesses, artists and residents, the Festival spreads energy and good vibes in the New Brunswick’s city.
On this occasion, the French artist MAYE will create a mural. Victorien Liria comes from Sète and is self-taught in painting. Passionate about drawing, he first expresses himself through lettering in the streets of Montpellier. Through his murals, he allows the visitors to enter his imagination. His sets are inhabited by lanky characters, flexible and curved. Their very detailed clothes reveal semi-mechanical bodies. Like their environment, these women and men are composed of natural and artificial elements. The blossoming interaction between these human figures and the animals around them contrasts with the prevailing chaos and brings a touch of hope. We find this optimism also in its use of pastel colors, whose heat and light spring in places.
MAYE lately opened an exhibition called « La Roue Tourne » in the Galerie itinérance in Paris from June 9th to July 7th. Inspired by his numerous trips, he tackles the topics of travel and back to the roots.
Come in Moncton to admire the murals and enjoy the street performances, from july 9th to July 14th.
