Since its creation in 1965, the Cité internationale des arts has been hosting artists from all over the world in residence. It is a living space open to dialogue between cultures, where artists meet their audiences and professionals. In partnership with 135 French and international organizations, it welcomes more than 300 artists from all disciplines, generations and backgrounds every month.

The French Institute, with the support and by delegation of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, underwriters of workshops at the Cité internationale des arts, allows each year nearly 70 artists to benefit from a residency in the heart of Paris.

The residency program at the Cité internationale des arts is intended for foreign artists who wish to develop a research and creative project in Paris, for a period of three or six months, and who are supported by one or more cultural partners.
These partners associated with the artist may be institutions of the French cultural network abroad (French Institutes, Cultural Services of French Embassies, Alliances françaises) and/or French or foreign cultural structures (art centre, association, multidisciplinary laboratory, gallery, museum, conventioned structure, theatre, production venue for dance and street arts, concert hall, festival abroad, etc.).

Artists may submit a research project on a topic/theme of their choice in the following disciplines: architecture/landscape/urbanism, visual arts, street arts/puppets, digital arts, comic strips, film/animation films/creative documentaries, curators, dance, design, graphics, literature/children’s literature, crafts, contemporary music, classical and contemporary music, image music (film and video games), photography, virtual reality, theatre.

Call for applications open from June 26 to August 30.
