Event Details

Alliance Française Halifax (AFH) organizes its monthly French Film Rendez-Vous on August 20, 2019 from 6 pm to 10 pm at the auditorium of the Museum of Natural History.

Two movies will be presented in French with English subtitles.

Nicholas on Holiday (2014) directed by Laurent Tirard will be screened at 6 pm.

Nicolas, his parents and Granny take the road to the sea. On the beach, Nicolas quickly makes new friends. But he also meets Isabelle, a little girl to whom he believes his parents want to marry him by force. Misunderstandings accumulate and kids start to do silly things. This movie is inspired by the character created by Jean-Jacques Sempé (cartoonist for the New Yorker) and René Goscinny (the creator of Asterix and Obelix).

At 8 pm., the second film will be My internship in Canada (Québec, 2016) directed by Philippe Falardeau.

Steve Guibord is an independent member of the Quebec-North Parliament. A political blow of fate led him to cast a decisive vote alone: should Canada go to war with the Middle East? Without experience and without a team, except for his Sovereign intern, a Haitian political science student, they both embarked on a political tour that would put them on the path of pacifists, miners, truckers and indigenous groups… My internship in Canada is a comedy and a political satire that shows the other side of the political scene in Quebec.

The prices are $8 per film ($5 for members and students of Alliance Française).
